Frequently Asked Questions
How does this check work?
It calls DeepSeek's Responses API with the web_search tool enabled. DeepSeek's servers perform a live web search and return the answer plus a list of cited source URLs. We show you exactly which domains were cited.
Is my API key safe?
Yes. The key lives only in your browser and is sent directly to api.deepseek.com — our servers never see it. Clear the field or use a temporary key if you're on a shared computer.
What does 'cited' mean exactly?
DeepSeek returned your domain among the source URLs of its answer. It's a real signal that DeepSeek's search backend has your site in its index and considered it relevant.
What if I'm not cited?
Common causes: the site is new (not yet in the index), the question doesn't match your content, or pages block crawlers. Fix llms.txt, robots.txt and sitemap, then retry in a few days.
Does this test other AI engines?
Currently DeepSeek only — its API is the only one with server-hosted web search available to us. ChatGPT and Perplexity checks are planned; they require their own API keys.
